We are officially snowed in! We had a huge snow storm on Friday and the school was cancelled. I think we got over a foot of snow! Now today, it is blizzard conditions with blowing and more snow. Kendall doesn't seem to mind it too much yet.
On a different note, she is doing awesome in swimming. In the first 2 invitational meets she has gotten 3 medals and 2 ribbons. She has also earned herself a spot in the A meet! I couldn't be more proud!

Kendall has been begging for days to get her hair cut and have bangs. I was not so keen on the idea because of past temper tantrums when her hair was not cooperating. I did not want to do that again. She promised me that she was older now and that would not happen so I gave in...here is the result. Now my 10 year old looks 13!!!

Kendall is well into the swing of 4th grade. She no longer has to go to the resource room and is doing well at keeping up with the class. It is nice not to have as much homework too. Last week she went to a play with Ama and when she got home we surprised her with a trampoline. She has been asking for one for years and I found a used one for $30. Both girls are having a ball on it - and it's great exercise!

I cannot believe my baby is double digits!!!! she is growing up too fast! We celebrated her birthday at Michigan Adventure - water and amusement park - yesterday. She invited her friend Megan Gritter and the Horn's and Poppy went too. It was a fun day. Today we registered for 4th grade, did a little school shopping and will end the day with a party at Ama and Poppy's with family and the VanZee's. I hope she loves her gifts!

Kendall is having a rather rough summer when it comes to her left side. A week ago she was diagnosed with poison sumac or some such poison on her left arm. The doctor put her on steroids to help with the itching and healing. Well apparantly the drugs weren't strong enough because now it is on her left hand and left side of her face. Poor kid! Hopefully it is gone by her birthday!!

Kendall spent her week deliriously busy. She was at camp Manitou-Lin for a day camp - 8:30-4:30 - with Ellie Vanzee. Then afterwards she went to Mega Sports Camp at church from 6:00-8:30! On Thursday night she spent the night at camp and her mama did not do so well. OK, I admit, I was a wreck! I am sure she had fun though. I would not be surprised if she slept for a week after all this.

July 6, 2008
Kendall had a wonderful 4th of July. We started the day with the parade. Then swimming at Ama's, a carnival and fireworks. At the carnival Kendall did a sort of rubberband/tramp jumping and had fun doing flips. Unfortunetely, the next day we spent at the cottage and she got a migraine - no fun for her. Maybe now that Ama and Poppy are back from Oregon, she is done being sick?!

So the big joke is that every time mom (Ama) leaves town, Kendall gets sick or something.(no kidding, this happens every time - for the past 8 years!) Kendall got the abcess when mom was on the east coast trip and now, the day after mom and dad leave for Seattle, Kendall gets a high fever after visiting our friends at the beach. By the next day the fever is down a little but she is bright red - not sunburn - and covered in a rash. Ama has to quit leaving! This is ridiculous! Poor baby!

So being the good mom that I am, I put off taking Kendall to a doctor over a bite or something on her arm that was big, red and hot. I noticed it last Saturday and since camp was finally over I took her today (Friday) to the med center. It had become an abcess - good job mom! The doctor had to numb it up, lance it open and drain it. He then packed it and we have to go back Sat. or Sun. to have the packing removed. He also took a culture which should be back on Sunday. So now the poor kid can't swim or play ball for a few days. Lesson learned! She did great through it all which is no surprise. She is a tough cookie!

Kendall is at water sports camp this week at camp Manitou-Lin - a YMCA camp. She is loving it of course. There are only 4 kids in her group so they each get a lot of turns. They go tubing, canoeing, waterskiing, swimming, sailing, kneeboarding and ocean rock climbing along with other fun camp stuff - archery, arts and crafts and horseback riding. The weather is below normal temps for June so after the first day I went out and bought her a wet suit. She says the water is really warm but when the kids are up on skis or in a tube - brrrrr!! The high today was 67 degrees until after camp was over, then the sun decided to come out. Figures!
She will be going back to the same camp in July with a friend for regular day camp. She is already excited about that!
Wish I could get pictures of her skiing!

Kendall is such a good big sister. I am so proud of her. The other day, after Reese's surgery, Reese proceeded to throw up EVERYWHERE. I was at a loss as to what or who to clean up first. Kendall took Reese and said "don't worry mom, I will take care of her." Not many adults would do that! I know she will be just as good with her next sister. Could a mom ask for anything more?

Alright - I have been encouraged by Kendall to start a blog for her, since both her sisters have one. So I thought that both of us could add entries as it will be quite entertaining as she gets older. ( but I think that she is old enough!) So, here it goes Miss Thing!
